Vansa Bot
Mind your message. Monitor public channels. Review potential abuse privately.
Vansa Bot checks new messages people post in the public Slack channels you invite it to, using your workspace's criteria. When a message meets your review threshold, it sends a private alert to your review channel, and people decide what happens next.
The checks use SI (Super Intelligence, also called AI) and can be wrong, miss a concern or lack context. A reviewer must assess each alert; it does not establish misconduct or make a decision about a person.
Free bot, your own Vansa API key
Vansa Bot itself is free. Each check is sent to the Vansa API with your workspace's own Vansa API key and uses tokens from that key. Pricing is on vansa.org.
How setup works
- Add Vansa Bot to your workspace and open its Home tab in Slack. A workspace administrator completes setup; installing the app does not grant moderation rights.
- Connect your Vansa API key through the short-lived secure form opened from the Home tab. Never paste a key into a Slack message.
- Choose a private review channel, invite Vansa Bot there and send a test alert.
- Choose your criteria and a tolerance: Strict, Balanced or Relaxed.
- Invite Vansa Bot to the public channels you want to monitor. An administrator's invitation starts monitoring once setup is complete; other invitations wait for an administrator's approval unless your administrators allow member invitations. The bot posts a notice in each channel it starts monitoring.
What it checks
Built-in criteria: personal abuse, discrimination, sexual harassment, threats and bullying. Profanity is optional. Administrators can add their own criteria after testing them, and can customize individual channels.
Limits
- Private channels, direct messages and Slack Connect channels are not monitored.
- Messages are checked after they are posted. Vansa Bot does not block or delete messages.
- A flag asks a person to review the content; it is not a finding against its author. Model estimates can be wrong.
- Outages, access changes and usage limits can leave messages unchecked. The Home tab shows these gaps instead of hiding them.
